Grants for Projects

FML has an established history of helping to fund church projects in Canada in the areas of ministry development, Christian education and training, social responsibility, cross-cultural communications and pastoral care, particularly in relation to the indigenous peoples of Canada’s ‘First Nations’. We have also supported the establishment of a variety of partnerships between UK and Canadian dioceses and Theological Education Institutions.

Because such projects usually have their own distinctive contextual rationale and objectives we do not approach the award of such grants through the medium of an application form. Instead, the Board invites a written proposal from the applicant(s) (generally a corporate entity such as a diocese, institution, department or organisation, or an individual representing such an entity). The proposal should outline:-

  • the nature and objectives of the project,
  • the rationale for setting the project up,
  • the time-scale for setting the project up,
  • the time-scale for the project’s anticipated active life,
  • an outline budget showing the various categories of expenditure and sources of income,
  • an indication of the level of funding sought from FML,
  • a statement of whether a single one-off payment or an on-going regular commitment is sought.

An initial enquiry about such funding can be made to the Hon Secretary using the contact form on the ‘Contact FML’ page of the website. Proposals should be sent to the Hon Secretary by email at <honsecfml@gmail.com>.

Since such projects often require substantial levels of funding, the Board will usually want to consider a new application at one of its twice-yearly meetings, rather than dealing with it through its interim approval process. Board meetings take place in April/May and October, and documentation is required a month beforehand. Potential applicants may like to bear these considerations in mind when putting together an application.
